Schengen Visa - Visitor visa
Required documents
Please bring the following documents to your appointment at the VFS Global Visa Application Centre. If not mentioned otherwise, copies of the original documents are sufficient. Please note that the visa section does not return original documents, if you do not also provide a copy.
Documents in languages other than German, English or French must be translated.
Further documentation may be requested in each individual case:
One application form (Schengen VIDEX) duly completed and signed.
1 recent biometric passport photo, 35 x 45 mm, no older than three months. Digitally altered passport photos cannot be accepted. Please ensure that your photo adheres to German biometric requirements and is taken in front of a white/bright background.
Do not stick or staple the photo to the application form.
Original passport or travel document valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Schengen area. The passport/travel document must contain at least two blank pages and must have been issued within the last 10 years. Please attach 1 photocopy of the passport data page to your application.
Proof of legal residence in Qatar, valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen territory.
Applicants must prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance, covering emergency medical, hospitalisation and repatriation (including in case of death). The minimum cover should be of 30,000 EUR. This insurance must be valid for the entire Schengen area and throughout the duration of the stay.
Applicants for a uniform visa for more than two entries (multiple entries) shall be in possession of travel medical insurance covering their stays; at the time of application, they need to prove that they have a travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit, and sign the related statement in the application form.
Must be signed by the legal representative of the company and mention the following:
- Name, postal address, telephone number, position of employee
- monthly salary
- Attached copy of Company Registration/computer card showing legal representative(s)
Letter must be not older than one month and must be submitted in original.
Formal Obligation Letter/ Verpflichtungserklärung:
Original and duplicate of formal obligation, signed at the foreigner’s office in Germany, Austria or Slovenia guaranteeing to cover all costs of applicant during his/her stay in Germany in accordance with §§ 66-68 of the Law of residence.
and /or
- informal invitation letter from the host in Germany/Schengen incl. full address of host and applicant’s purpose of visit and
- Passport copy of host in Germany/Schengen State and copy of his/her residence permit for Germany/ Schengen State if applicable
Only applicable for non-Qatari residents
- Original bank statements of your personal current account (minimum last 3 months and not older than 2 weeks from the day of submission)
NOTE: In case bank statements are provided by a relative in direct line (parent/child) or spouse, please submit birth certificate or marriage certificate with an English translation to prove the relationship
- Stamped original and copy of employment contract registered with the competent Qatari labor authorities
- Duly filled out letter of guarantee signed by sponsor
- Passport copy of sponsor and copy of his/her Schengen visa if applicable
- Letter of MOI (immigration) stating date of entry and last entry (proof of minimum residence of 1 year in Qatar)
Important Notice - Sponsor must be present at VFS to sign the guarantee in front of VFS Staff and present original QID and passport!
