General Information
Vocational training in Germany opens many doors and is the best way to prepare yourself for the world of work in Germany. There are two options: you can either complete school-based or in-company vocational training.
Submitting an application
Necessary documents
The CSP will require upload of the following documents.
Please note, that in some cases the Embassy might ask for additional documents.
Please complete the online application form (application forms are required for each applicant separately; all children require separate forms) and bring the printed and signed form including the barcodes to your appointment.
A valid passport signed by the holder, issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least one year is necessary. The passport needs to have at least 2 subsequent blank pages. Please bring 1 photocopy of the passport biodata page to your appointment.
1 fully biometric passport photo, 35 x 45 mm, no older than three months. Digitally altered passport photos cannot be accepted. Please ensure that your photo adheres to German biometric requirements and is taken in front of a white/bright background.
Bring your valid Qatar residence permit (QID) and 1 photocopy to your appointment.
You need to upload evidence that you have an in-company or school-based vocational training placement in Germany.
Ausbildungsvertrag
You will normally require German language skills at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This is the case if the training institution has not yet tested your language skills or if you have not yet completed a preparatory German course.
If you are intending to do a preparatory German course (ausbildungsvorbereitender Sprachkurs), please upload the course reservation and payment proof.
You must be able to cover your living costs for the entire duration of your stay. Depending on the type of vocational training, different requirements apply.
If you plan on taking part in a school-based vocational training programme, you can provide evidence of being able to cover your living costs by opening a blocked bank account, submitting a “Verpflichtungserklärung” (formal obligation letter) by sponsor living in Germany, or through a scholarship. You must have at least €959 net per month available to you (as of 2025).
If you plan on taking part in a company-based vocational training programme, you will receive a training salary, which is also considered as evidence. If your training allowance is at least €1,048 gross or €822 net per month (amount valid from September 2025), your livelihood is considered secure. Should your training salary be insufficient, you are allowed to compensate the difference by showing that you are in possession of either a blocked bank account or a “Verpflichtungserklärung” (formal obligation letter) by sponsor living in Germany.
