General Information
If you are a holder of an academic degree or of a vocational training diploma that is recognised in Germany, there are a number of German regulations on the basis of which a visa could be issued. It is part of the decision by the visa section which type of visa can be issued.
NOTE: if your qualification is not recognised in Germany, please apply under “recognition of foreign qualification”
Submitting an application
Necessary documents
The CSP will require upload of the following documents.
Please note, that in some cases the Embassy might ask for additional documents.
A valid passport, signed by the holder, issued within the last 10 years and with a minimum validity of one year, is required. The passport must contain at least two consecutive blank pages. Please ensure you bring the original passport to your appointment.
One fully biometric passport photo, measuring 35 x 45 mm, taken within the last three months. Digitally altered photos will not be accepted. Please ensure that your photo complies with German biometric standards and is taken against a white or light-colored background.
Please bring your valid Qatar residence permit (QID) to the appointment.
Declaration of Employment (Erklärung zum Beschäftigungsverhältnis)
to be completed, signed and stamped by your employer
Your prospective employer can facilitate visa processing by applying for pre-approval from the Federal Employment Agency
or
a so-called § 81 AufenthG fast-track pre-approval issued by the immigration authorities
NOTE: it is not compulsory to apply for a pre-approval. A pre-approval only shortens the processing time of your visa application. You can submit your application without pre-approval.
You must provide the original degree certificate on your appointment with VFS. The original will be returned to you after your application has been decided.
Any non-German, English or French documents must be translated into one of these three languages by a certified or sworn translator.
To show that your degree is recognised in Germany, you will need to upload:
printouts from the ANABIN database - showing that both the qualification as well as the academic institution are listed as comparable
or
- the “Statement of Comparability for Foreign Higher Education Qualifications”, issued by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB)
You must provide the original degree certificate when submitting your application at VFS. The original will be returned to you after your application has been decided.
Any non-German, English or French documents must be translated into one of these three languages by a certified or sworn translator.

- the “Statement on a Foreign Vocational Qualification”, issued by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB)
