General Information

In order to participate in an intensive German language course which is not related to university studies/vocational training or recognition of foreign professional qualifications you may apply for a visa permitting a maximum stay of one year.

Submitting an application


Necessary documents

Apart from the application form, please bring the following to your appointment at the Embassy.

In some cases the Embassy might ask for additional documents.

A valid passport, signed by the holder, issued within the last 10 years and with a minimum validity of one year, is required. The passport must contain at least two consecutive blank pages. Please ensure you bring the original passport to your appointment.

One fully biometric passport photo, measuring 35 x 45 mm, taken within the last three months. Digitally altered photos will not be accepted. Please ensure that your photo complies with German biometric standards and is taken against a white or light-colored background.

Please bring your valid Qatar residence permit (QID) to the appointment.

Confirmed language course registration in Germany for a so called “Intensiv-Sprachkurs”:

  • Proof of payment for language course registration fee
  • Course has to take place minimum 18 hours per week at a German language school (weekend or evening courses are insufficient.)

Proof of German language skills of at least A1/A2 is mandatory.

Hotelreservation or rented appartment for the first 3 months

  • Why do you wish to study in Germany? Have you tried to study German online or in language schools in Qatar or your home country. What are your career plans for the future?

  • Blocked account at a German bank to the minimum amount of 934,- EURO per month of stay

    or

  • Proof of scholarship from a German institution (DAAD etc.)

  • e.g. school certificates, university degree certificates, internships, trainings, university and / or employment confirmation
