Do I need a visa?
Qatari citizens or non-EU nationals require a visa to enter Germany.
EU nationals and nationals of a couple of other countries are exempted. You can check here whether you need a visa or not.
If you need a visa, the next question is, which visa type you need to apply for. There are two different types of visa:
Who can apply for visa at the German Embassy Doha?
Qatari citizens and non-Qatari residents who have been legally residing in Qatar for at least the past six months can apply for visa at the German Embassy Doha. In addition to the QID, the Embassy reserves the right to ask for a written confirmation by immigration.
Which type of visa do I need?
The type of visa you need to apply for and the required procedures depend on the duration of your to stay. There are two types of visa:
Are you planning a short visit to Germany for a business trip, visit or holiday? Then you will have to apply for a Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days, also referred to as a“short-term” or “C-visa”.
Or would you like to stay longer than 90 days, e.g. to work in Germany, reunite with a spouse or attend university? In that case, you have to apply for a German National visa, also referred to as a “long-term visa” or “D- visa”.
