This event will take place at the new Qatar National Library, a signature project recently opened by HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
In the context of the Europe Day Panel Discussion at QNL, participants will have the opportunity to a guided tour of the Exhibition “Arab and German Tales - Transcending Cultures”, organized by the German Embassy.
The Arab and German Tales exhibition at QNL, which officially opened its doors on 17 April 2018, traces how some of the best known tales from both Arab and German – and wider Western – cultures developed from common roots, splitting over the centuries to reflect the societies that adopted them.
The exhibition is a joint enterprise between QNL, the Ägyptisches Museum and Papyrussammlung (Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection), Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, and the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The exhibition features a selection of ancient papyri, rare manuscripts, printed books, illustrations and other historical items from the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung, the Staatsbibliothek Berlin (Berlin National Library), QNL’s Heritage Library, as well as items loaned by other German lenders.
H.E. Ambassador Hans-Udo Muzel stated that Germany is proud to be chosen as the first country partnering with QNL to show this impressive exhibition on the occasion of the official opening of the iconic National Library.
